Amal Jabow - Dorsey Schools
Amal immigrated to the United States and entered her first English post-secondary school at Dorsey.
Amal fully realized that she would face academic challenges because of her language barrier. Instead of running from them or making excuses, Amal just studied harder. Things other students would understand the first time, Amal had to read three or four times. She never complained, but embraced the opportunity to learn.
Not only did Amal have challenges with the didactic part of her curriculum, she also had challenges with the clinical portion. Amal has scleroderma - a group of rare diseases that involve the hardening and tightening of the skin and connective tissues. Amal would often be in pain from this disorder and would still have to perform clinical proficiencies. Through it all, Amal maintained an amazing attitude of perseverance and positivity. She graduated last Fall with a 3.38 GPA!
